No. 119
Settlers from Asa'el outpost, in South
Hebron Hills, attack their Palestinian neighbours in order to take over their land.
On Friday, 20th June, 2008, a settler from the outpost killed
two goats belonging to Ahmad 'Awwad,
a landowner in the area.
On 18th
July, 2008, at 9:30 a.m., some 25 settlers arrived, probably originally from Kiriat Arba, from the direction
of the outpost and attacked Ahmad 'Awwad's family, who live in a tent more than a kilometre away from the outpost. They evicted the family, destroyed their tent and took away the family's belongings. The police, called
by an IDF officer, failed to come.
Only after an Israeli human rights activist intervened did the police arrive,
after 3:00 p.m. Then the family returned.
The Red Cross supplied a substitute tent, and Israeli and international human rights activists also came to help the family.
